…Mike and Tina for completing your Open Water Diver Certifications with us. You all rocked the course! We also had some awesome Discover Scuba Divers this week who tried scuba diving for the very first time. Elena, Max, Francesca, Emerald, Alex, Kathy, Brain, and Madeline- well done little tadpoles!! We enjoyed a wonderful week of Cayman scuba diving exploring the west and north sides of the island. We were very lucky to spend a few dives with a resident, friendly nurse shark who stayed with us the entire dive. Gary found an eagle ray on this mornings dive who sadly had a fishing line in his gill. Gary was able to grab the line and swim with the eagle ray, trying to dislodge the line and set him free. What an amazing experience!
Grand Cayman offers ideal conditions for brand new divers trying scuba diving for the first time or finishing off their open water certifications. The water is warm, clear and teeming with life.
Our PADI Discover Scuba Diving courses are designed for people who have never been diving before and we conduct our class from our shore location where the conditions are ideal for brand new divers. In very shallow water, we introduce the basics of scuba and get comfortable with the equipment. We practice a few fun, easy skills in very shallow, warm water with fish swimming past. Once comfortable, we practice swimming along the beautiful white, sandy bottom, enjoying the feeling of weightlessness! The coral reef begins to build up all around us and we are then diving through an underwater maze of coral, sponges and tropical fish. It is beautiful and amazing! You work with your dive instructor the entire time and they are there every step of the way to make sure you are comfortable and to point out as many cool critters as we can find. There is no better place in the world to try scuba for the first time.
We are a PADI 5 Star Dive Center and love to teach scuba diving! Our Open Water certifications can be finished over 2 days when the eLearning portion has been completed at home before you arrive. Once on island, we work with our students to complete the 5 confined sessions and skill development. We do this from our shore location in a protected bay area which is way better than completing in a pool!
We then complete Open Water dives 1&2 where we achieve the standards and requirements for your first two open water dives. We work at your pace, taking the time to explain things, get comfortable and master the skills. The rest of our dive is underwater exploration where we take in the reef and all its amazing inhabitants. Cayman’s marine environment is diverse and healthy. After the first day of training, you have the skills and confidence needed for the following day no the boat.
On your second day, we complete Open Water dives 3&4 with your dive instructor. You will visit one of Cayman’s famous wall sites, followed by a beautiful shallow reef system. Each dive is spent getting acclimatized and working side by side with your personal dive instructor to become a safe, confident certified diver. After the dives, you log them with your dive instructor, talk about all the beautiful tropical fish, turtles, critters, corals and sponges you saw. We take your picture and certify you online!

Gary is a PADI Master Instructor and an RYA 200 ton Off Shore. Having worked all over the world as a dive instructor and boat captain. He has spent the last 20 year based in the Cayman Islands. Together with his wife Liz they have built the number one scuba diving operation in the Caribbean.
